The application is simple, however here are some hints for beginners :
Hint : The application saves automatically all setings in to windows
registry under Current User and Ajo folder in Software. There
is no other place, where the application stores the settings. You
may want to delete those registry entries using Microsoft(r) Regedit.
You may want to specify a command line parameter - website to open.
(e.g. iesnapshot.exe www.limperex.com)
Browser Tab - Main screen
Under the browser tab (see the Appliaction screenshots page)
you have a common address bar and couple of navigation buttons. There
are no advanced toolbars available.
Browser Window
Below the address bar, there is a browser window, which shows the
actual webpage. You can use this browser as usual internet explorer,
and you can click and navigate through internet. On the right side,
there is a smaller window - "image preview".
Image Preview
On the Image preview you can use your mouse
to select, zoom or move the preview window. The active selection
will
be saved in to the specified file. If no region has been selected,
the whole webpage will be saved.
Create new PDF
This option is only for PDF file format available. When saving
PDF files, you have to create a PDF before saving the first page.
After
creating the PDF you can append as many pages as you want by pressing
the Save button.
Close PDF
After appending pages in to PDF file, you can save and close the
PDF file. After saving you can open the file with common PDF Reader.
Grab from list (experimental)
There is a option which allows you to capture webpages from
predefined list. The list must be saved in plain text format (you
can create the file using common text editor
like
Microsoft(r) Notepad). Each web address must be separated by <ENTER>
(CRLF)
Configuration TAB
Selection definition
Manually set the selection - when a new webpage is loaded, the
application gives to the user the possibility to select the capture
region with the mouse
Set automatically following selection - the user has the option
to set the region in the window below. This region will be automatically
selected after loading of the webpage. It can be used for archiving
puprposes of many similiar pages.
Hint:
You can get current selection
from 'Browser tab' by clicking get current.
Save parameters
Path - the default path where the pictures should be saved.
File format - the desired fileformat (preffered PDF)
Filename selection - automatic filename generation or manual filename
setting. If the option manual is highlighted then after pressing
the save button a dialog will be opened and the user will have the
opportunity to enter the filename.
Copression quality - this affects the PDF and JPG files. Higher quality
means sharper images...
Webpage download timeout
When you want to grab from list, this option
can be usefull for you. You can select when IE snapshot should capture
the page. This is importand for pages which are "infinite", like
Flash(r) enabled pages.
